Wedding Trip Part 3

The big day finally arrived and everyone was all very excited . I wasn’t sure about the timetable of the of the day but that doesn’t matter. I usually just go with the flow. It was all very busy in the morning as last minute preparations were made. The music tracks wasn’t decided yet. The flowers were yet to be arranged as well a tad bit of make up on the groom.

Garden of Blenheim Palace - The Reception was held here.

I was a little nervous myself. I was assigned a few roles for the wedding. I had the family camera and I had to take the pictures. No worries, since I already loved taking pictures. But this time, rather than for my own recreational purpose where I would snap pictures at everything and it wouldn’t matter if they were rubbish, this was capturing moments to treasure forever for the family. I had to do a good job and I was determined to do so. The camera was excellent. It wasn’t a DSLR but at 16MP and with an 8x zoom, it had more than enough specs to deal with the occasion. What’s more, I was unexpectaedly given the ring to look after. Wow. I just kept telling my friend, “I hold here the most important object of your life”. No pressure. What’s more, an hour before we left, I was told I’ve “sort of” become his Best Man. I was hugely surprised and honoured at the same time. I thought he’d already chosen his Best Man. I was actually looking forward to meeting him. I hadn’t written any speech beforehand and I was worried I would have to make it up as I went along. Thankfully, they insisted on an informal wedding and being told late meant I wasn’t required to make any speech. Phew, I’m awful at public speaking.

The Wedding Cake

The wedding ceremony itself took place in the Registrar office in Banbury, not far from Warwick School where me and the groom went to school together. After that we travelled down to Oxfordshire for the wedding reception.  The reception was set at Blenheim Palace, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and a perfect location to celebrate the wedding. Having stuffed myself on food and champagne, I felt the day flow as I continuously took snaps after snaps of the bride and groom and their guests. Some photos were hit and miss but overally I’m happy with the job that I did. Ididn’t trip over when I presented the rings at the ceremony, my pictures were pretty good and I stayed sober. Score. The slight pressure of being responsible for the camera never even got close to me. I found it fun and enjoyable and for the first time, I got to fiddle around with the bride’s brother’s DSLR who is quite a pro :)

The photographing team! And that's me on the right!

The whole day was one of the best day of my life. I am so happy and proud of the both of them and they really are the perfect couple made for each other. There was also a lot of lessons to learn about weddings. Maybe one day I’ll have to go through it all myself.
